Getting Started
-
The first step is reaching out through the contact form or email to schedule a consultation.
During our conversation, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and determine whether working together feels like a good fit. If it does, we'll schedule an initial appointment and begin the process together.
I look forward to hearing from you.
-
The therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in successful therapy. During our initial consultation, we'll discuss what brings you to therapy, your goals, and any questions you may have about my approach.
You are encouraged to consider whether you feel comfortable, understood, and supported. Finding the right therapist is important, and I want you to feel empowered to make the choice that best serves your needs.
-
I provide:
Individual therapy for adults
Couples and relationship therapy
Clinical supervision and consultation for pre-licensed and licensed mental health professionals
-
I work with individuals navigating a wide range of concerns, including:
Anxiety and stress
Depression
Relationship challenges
Life transitions
Identity exploration
LGBTQIA+ experiences
Racial, cultural, and intergenerational experiences
Self-esteem and self-worth
Trauma and difficult past experiences
Boundaries, communication, and relational patterns
If you're unsure whether your concerns are a good fit, you're welcome to reach out for a consultation.
-
My approach is collaborative, relational, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive. I view therapy as a space to explore your experiences with curiosity rather than judgment.
Together, we may examine patterns, emotions, relationships, identities, and the systems that shape your life. My goal is not to "fix" you, but to help you deepen self-understanding, strengthen your relationships, and move toward a life that feels more aligned with your values.
Sessions & Telehealth
-
I currently offer fully virtual therapy (telehealth) for clients located in New York State. Virtual therapy allows you to access care from the comfort of your home, office, or another private space while maintaining the same level of confidentiality and professionalism as in-person therapy.
Many clients find telehealth to be convenient, accessible, and easier to integrate into their busy schedules.
-
Individual and couples sessions are typically 50 minutes.
Extended sessions may be available when clinically appropriate and discussed in advance.
-
Most clients begin with weekly sessions. Depending on your goals and needs, we may later transition to biweekly or another schedule that feels appropriate.
Fees & Insurance
-
I use an anti-oppressive rate structure, which recognizes that access to mental health care is shaped by broader systems of privilege, oppression, and economic inequality.
Rather than assuming that a single fee is equitable for everyone, I offer a range of rates and invite clients to select a fee within that range that aligns with their financial circumstances and access to resources.
Fee discussions are approached collaboratively and transparently. If you have questions about the rate structure, I am happy to discuss them during our consultation.
-
I accept insurance through Headway only.
If your insurance plan is accepted through Headway, you may be able to use your in-network benefits and pay only your applicable copay, coinsurance, or deductible.
If I am not in-network with your insurance plan, you may still be able to use out-of-network benefits depending on your coverage.
-
In-Network Benefits
When a therapist is in-network with your insurance plan:
Insurance determines reimbursement rates
You typically pay a copay, coinsurance, or deductible amount
Claims are generally handled directly by the insurance company
Out-of-Network Benefits
When a therapist is not contracted with your insurance plan:
You pay the session fee directly
Your insurance company may reimburse a portion of the fee
You often have greater flexibility in choosing a therapist who is the best clinical fit rather than limiting your search to providers within a network
Many clients choose out-of-network therapy because finding a therapist who feels like the right fit can have a significant impact on the therapy process.
-
The best way is to contact your insurance company directly. You can usually find the member services phone number on the back of your insurance card.
Questions you may want to ask include:
Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?
What percentage of psychotherapy services are reimbursed?
Is there a deductible I must meet first?
How much of my deductible has already been met?
Is there a limit on the number of therapy sessions covered?
Do I need preauthorization for outpatient psychotherapy?
How do I submit claims for reimbursement?
If you choose to use out-of-network benefits, I can provide a monthly superbill that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
Policies & Scheduling
-
I require 48 hours' notice for cancellations or rescheduling requests.
Appointments canceled with less than 48 hours' notice, as well as missed appointments (no-shows), will be charged the full session fee.
Insurance companies generally do not reimburse for missed appointments or late cancellation fees.
-
Therapy appointments are reserved specifically for you. When a session is canceled at the last minute or missed entirely, it is often too late to offer that time to another client who may be waiting for support.
Late cancellations and no-shows impact:
The continuity and effectiveness of your own treatment
The therapist's ability to maintain a sustainable practice
Other clients who may have benefited from that appointment time
The cancellation policy helps protect the consistency of care for all clients while honoring the time and preparation that go into each session.
-
Life happens and sometimes you need to change your appointment. If you need to reschedule, please provide at least 48 hours' notice whenever possible. With sufficient notice, we'll work together to find another available appointment time.
Appointments canceled or rescheduled with less than 48 hours' notice are subject to the full session fee. This policy allows me to protect the time reserved for you and, when possible, offer the opening to another client who may need it.
If you find that you frequently need to change your appointment time, we can talk together about whether a different scheduling arrangement would better support you.
-
If you know you'll be running late, please let me know as soon as you can. Your session will generally still end at the scheduled time so that I can honor the appointments that follow yours.
For example, if your session begins at 10:00 AM and you arrive at 10:15 AM, we will typically have the remaining time rather than extending the session.
If you are more than 15 minutes late without contacting me, the appointment may be considered a no-show and the full session fee may apply.
I also understand that occasional delays happen. The goal of this policy isn't to penalize you for being human, it's to maintain consistency and fairness for everyone whose time and care are part of the practice.
Privacy
-
In most situations, what you share in therapy is confidential. There are a few legal and ethical exceptions to confidentiality, which will be reviewed during the informed consent process. These exceptions generally involve concerns related to safety, abuse, court orders, or other circumstances required by law.
If questions about confidentiality arise during our work together, we can discuss them openly.
-
What you share in therapy is generally private and confidential. There are, however, certain circumstances in which I may be legally or ethically required to disclose information. These limits will be reviewed with you as part of the informed consent process.
Generally, exceptions to confidentiality may include situations involving:
A serious and imminent risk of harm to yourself or someone else
Suspected abuse or neglect of a child, older adult, or other protected person
A court order or other legal requirement
Certain situations involving insurance billing or coordination of care, when applicable and authorized
I will make every effort to discuss concerns about confidentiality with you whenever it is clinically and legally appropriate to do so. If you have questions about what is or isn't confidential, you're always welcome to ask.
-
Yes. I use a secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform for virtual sessions and take reasonable steps to protect the privacy of your health information.
Because therapy takes place virtually, it's also important to consider your physical environment. Whenever possible, please participate from a private location where you feel comfortable speaking openly. Using headphones can provide an additional layer of privacy, particularly if you are in a shared space.
I also recommend using a private, password-protected device and a secure internet connection when possible.
While reasonable measures can be taken to protect your privacy, no form of electronic communication can be guaranteed to be completely risk-free.
-
Therapy sessions are not intended to replace emergency or crisis services. If you are experiencing an immediate emergency or believe you may be at imminent risk of harming yourself or someone else, please seek immediate emergency assistance.
If you are experiencing a mental health crisis but are not in immediate danger, you can reach out to a local crisis service or another appropriate urgent mental health resource.
Please also be aware that because I provide fully virtual therapy, I will need to know your current physical location at the beginning of sessions so that I can respond appropriately in the event of an emergency.
If you anticipate needing a higher level of support than outpatient therapy can provide, we can discuss appropriate resources and treatment options together.
